Editor`s Choice

Týden zpola kulturní
As Josef Pisek shows in today's selected week for the Editor's Choice, life has something to offer at every stage. This week with a dose of culture is already his 10th and it seems Josef can be regarded as one of the steady members who knows how to show his life to others. The week is not good for just two or three excellent pictures, but it is overflowing with well-depicted images from the author's life. Additionally, this set is spiced up by a significant achievement in photography. We advise you to look at this set after you've had something to eat, otherwise you'll be craving food immediately, since Josef has captured the things he loves and in one of the pictures, he has even shared one of his most beloved recipes.
Hipstamatic Week
Photography today is accessible to almost anyone, mainly thanks to mobile phones. That is of course not news, as we have mentioned it several times in the past. The developers of such phones are always working on ways to improve and add more functions to them and this type of simple yet entertaining photography is becoming increasinly popular with many of you. This recent phenomenon is already evident from the results of renowned journalistic awards, where photograhs from such devices have ranked very high. One who has the option to use professonial equipment yet decided to document his latest week with his phone is Jan Povysil, who's set named Hipstamatic Week is today's selection. It's predominantly black and white with a slight touch of color. Do you wonder what Jan's life would look like in color?
WOL1
fendy | Architect, | Indonesia | 10/17/2011
His nickname brings a little mystery into the project. He calls himself Fendy, is an architect and also the first envoy of a new country in the Week of Life project. The nation we speak of is Indonesia, which has become the 42nd country involved. In his first week which he simply named WOL1, Fendy documents his job, the busy city life typical for this region of the world and besides the everyday moments of his family, he was able to capture the first days on earth of his new baby. Will Fendy continue documenting the life of his family and the ones closest to him, as well as the part of the world most of us will never get the chance to see? Let's just wait and see.
Lost in stereotype
On several occasions, we were able to see that the youth perceives the world differently than adults. Many of you enjoy these student weeks, since they make you reminisce about the good old days when you spent most of your time dealing with the joys and sorrows of life in school. Lucie Zelena is another student who let's us take a peek at her everyday life in her set called Lost in stereotype. Her first week is exteremly rich in content showing us all sorts of different angles on student life. And on top of it all, she managed to make the week even more exciting with the combination of color toning with images purely in black and white.

Jan | Student, | Slovakia | 10/10/2011
Not even 10 years have passed from time when classical film material ruled the world of photography. No matter if it was color or black and white roll of film, you would get a maximum of 36 images and when the photographer used them all up, he had to listen to the film rewind or was even forced to rewind the film himself in order to put another film into the camera. Let's be honest - who from the Week of Life members ever documented their life on original celluloid film? We are pretty sure that most of you never had to deal with the '36' limit. Jan Skalican is a young student, who instead of letting technology take care of his photography, he decided to photograph on black and white film. And bravo, what a week it is. Perhaps some of you will be inspired by Jan and will try what he did with excellence. Good luck to all of you!
