Up until now, we mainly had the chance to absorb the atmosphere of life in the city of Ekaterinburg. We are now moving further west to explore another Russian city, Nizhny Novgorod (5th largest city in the Russian Federation). In her first set, Anya Lipman has portrayed this wonderful city both in sunlight as well as under the spell of clouds and rain. Anya’s photographs were very captivating and so we hope that we will see her next set on WoL very soon.

Dalibor Gavelčík marked his entrance to the project as a newly father and documented not only his first week of life on WoL, but also the first cries and gasps for air of his newborn son. We highly appreciate your dedication to sharing such wonderful intimate moments of your lives, as bringing a baby to the world and everything connected to it is certainly a remarkable sight. Dalibor’s week serves as an insight into the restless days when a father proudly awaits the moment when his family returns home.

Igor Babic has documented his first week of life in such style that a mere look at the first images makes one want to explore them further. The unique atmosphere of the week is created through color photographs that exude calm, with the occasional use of black and white film completing the artistic set Igor’s playfulness with light, detail and color toning makes this week a worthwhile visit.

The first attempt of Milan Novák to document a week with a Flexaret camera was not entirely successful and proved to be a rather tough task. However, thanks to a positive response and all the encouraging comments of other WoL members, he finally managed to pull off this 7-day challenge side by side with this historical device. And even though the name of the week suggests this was a onetime event, we still see it as a valuable and enriching Flexaret experience. And for those of you who are not entirely sure what a Flexaret is – it’s a twin-lens reflex camera with an aluminum body, one of the most fascinating photographic devices manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Along with his dog Koko, who is becoming a favorite pet with many members of WoL, is Honza Belej now one of the regular contributors to the project and we are starting to notice his rapid progress not only in photography skills, but also in the increasingly rich content in his weeks. His amusing way of portraying his life is very welcome and we are always eager to see what his dog comes up with next, as well as the dragging moments he has to spend during his long night shifts at work.
