Editor`s Choice

Going Home
Karel | Manager, | Belize | 6/22/2010
Today’s Editor’s Choice is not just the celebration of a successfully documented week of Karel Kuran’s life, describing the journey from his native Czech Republic to his new home in Belize. Not only is it a record of the transition from a small state in Central Europe to an even smaller state in the eastern part of Central America, but a milestone for us in the form of the satisfyingly round number 30. That is the running total of countries where we have at least one photographic record of 168 hours of local life through the eyes of a resident. Every ‘sneak peek’ into a new country is an immense contribution to the project.
první week of life aneb cesta za poznáním
We are always pleased to pick a week such as this one for the Editor’s Choice. It totally proves the fact that even without top-quality camera, you can document an exciting week full of energy and at the same time, zoom in on the lifestyle of the author. In today’s digital world, overwhelmed by a cell phone craze, there is nothing easier than keeping your phone in your pocket or in your purse on standby mode, only for you to take a picture in nearly every situation without having to ‘drag’ a heavy piece of equipment. Kateřina Hladká’s search for cognition was successful in its first attempt and we are glad that she unveiled to us her private female life.
Týden, kdy začalo léto
Weeks of Romek Hanzlík were interesting the instant they appeared in the project, since the journey across different concert halls allowed us to travel to distant lands and admire their beauty. Even though Romek’s life is not currently filled with musical tours, he does not waste time and explores the enticement of family life in his homeland; and that is what satisfies us the most. His steps were initially insecure, however nowadays, every new week brings forth an original and exciting experience. Romek is an exceptionally active person and we hope that he will keep to his tradition and excite us with new diverse events and occurrances in the future.
hokej hokej hokej lední(a jiné:) )
A week full of art, good food and drinks, along with a fair amount of ice hockey cheering. All of this and more is included in the second visit to life of student Pavlína Prokůpková, who first introduced herself while visiting relatives in New York. This time, we had the chance to see her in company of her friends and while experiencing those moments in life that are said to be ‘common’, but at the same time so exciting and very important to us. We can only wonder about where she’ll take us next.
Môj prvý,..
Jan | Student, | Slovakia | 6/1/2010
In spite the fact that the world around us is rich with color, sometimes it pays off to look at it through a black and white filter and focus on the specific outlines rather than colors, in order to grasp and feel what surrounds us on a daily basis. Jan Skalican, a student, picked the black and white combination for his first week and despite the absence of color, his photographs revel with life and splendidly document not only the atmosphere of the Slovakian capital city, but also 168 hours of life of one of the local students.
