Editor`s Choice

Až mi bude tak sto deset ...
There are certain moments in life that fundamentally influence our future steps and make us realize that health is the most important gift a person has ever received. Such moment can cross the path of any one of us and it has certainly crossed the path of Petr Hrubý on the 8th of March, when he woke up in the morning realizing he cannot feel half of his body and that in the next few days, he will adapt to a new ‘home’ called the hospital bed, with his health in the hands of doctors. Even though he wanted to document these crucial times for his own record at first, he endured to take pictures throughout the entire week. Thanks to his persistence, he managed to take us to a place not all of us have been in since our birth, a patient’s life in a hospital environment from top to bottom: regular check-ups, boredom, pain, but also happy moments when a person discovers he is feeling better and will soon be released home. We thank him for such courage and tenacity.
Jak se žije... geologům v terénu... v Burkině Faso
Lenka | Scientist, | France | 3/5/2010
Our work and hobbies bring us from time to time to places, where only a few have a chance to visit. One of these places is definitely Burkina Faso alias Land of the honest, which is located in the west part of African continent. We were brought to this land in the week of life of Lenka Baratoux. She perfectly managed to capture work of the geologists in the field, but as well managed to capture the local environment and the life of people that even now days we know so little about.
A little girl
For most of you, Week of Life is like a box in which you store pieces and parts of your lives to be able to assemble them back together in the future and say: ‘I’ve lived through all this’. At the same time, these pieces become evidence, proving how diverse the world is and how life differs from country to country, including those on the same continent. One of these pieces is surely the week of Mr. Xiong Jun, documenting one week of everyday life in the People’s Republic of China. His photos seem as if they were alive; not only can we hear the noises in the streets or the gasps and grunts of workers carrying heavy loads on their backs, but also the silence and calmness represented by Sunday in Xiong Jun’s week.
Týden začíná čtvrtkem
The week of Kristýna Fischlová can be described in various ways and is eligible for many adjectives. Not only has she succeeded in combining the detailed shots with the panoramic ones in a suave manner, but her photo collection has created her own typical photographic signature. They were chosen in a precise way for us to clearly identify when the day starts and when it ends. We hope that Kristýna Fischlová will not mind, but today’s Editor’s Choice is somewhat assigned to everyone, who has shared their week for the first time and actually followed the rules of the project. Lately, the number of you doing your weeks correctly is increasing and it is impossible to name everyone individually. However, surely the ones that we speak of today will find themselves mentioned in this message.
Ostrava všední aneb tam a zase zpátky
The surroundings we live in play a vital role in our lives and help to create our identity. That could be one of the reasons why Mr. Jan H decided to capture the atmoshpere of Ostrava in his week, the city he wakes up in and says goodnite. He has showed it to us in the way most of us can imagine. Dark, full of smoke, with a polluted environment due to high concentration of heavy industry. Despite a little depressing touch, it has been a great place of interest for many Czech artists and athletes for quite some time now.
